GINGEE LAUNCHING ITS DIY CROSS PLATFORM MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

We all need cross platform mobile app development – that’s un-debatable. Gingee, an Israel based startup has launched its cross platform mobile app development tools today in order to cater to this demand. The demand, as they point out, is that there are around 11k different Android devices running on 8 di

Gingee points out there are 11,000 different Android devices working on eight distinct versions of Android alone. Apart from that, there are smart phones, phablets and tablets running on iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices. According to market analysts Research2Guidance, nearly 70 percent of mobile app developers are expected to adopt cross platform mobile app development in 2 years up from the mere five percent now. That means a huge market for all cross platform framework makers is in the making. Already Titanium, PhoneGap, Marmalade are reporting increased revenues. Gingee is hopeful to challenge them by bringing its tool to amateur developers too. They reveal their platform is a simple drag and drop UI, which requires no coding. Thus mobile apps for iOS, Android and others can be created without much knowledge of coding.

They go on to claim that their integrated development environment can automatically generate highend code and thus lead to reduction in development time by 57 percent per operating system. We are assuming this figure is in comparison to native development. Gingee’s tools are being launched as free of charge for now. The company also claims near native performance, a staggering 96% of a fully native app – which is huge. Only time will tell whether Gingee proves to be successful or not. Can it replace professional app developers? No, we don’t think so ‘yet’ – may be yes for small time amateur college level apps. We feel this could be a good basic learning curve for those who intend to be mobile app developers in the future.
